MRI imaging is also a useful tool in assessing and determining how a particular patient may be responding to treatments.
How is MRI Scan different from CT Scan & X- Ray Procedure?
MRI Scan is more advanced technology compared to CT Scan and X- Ray. It does not use potentially harmful ionizing radiation like CT scans and X-rays.
An MRI image provides more detailed information of internal body structure like the brain, reproductive system, skeletal system etc. and is used when X-ray and CT are not effective to diagnose the underlying issues in the body.
Will I experience any side effects or difference after the MRI Test?
No, you will not experience any side effects after the MRI exam and can continue with your routine activities. In case you feel restless or any other effect, please inform the representative in our facility.

What is an MRI Scan procedure like?
To begin MRI Scan, you will be made to lie down on the scan table and your position will be adjusted by the MRI Technician. Then, when the machine starts to work, you’ll hear some loud knocking sounds. These sounds will occur whenever the MRI images are being taken. Think of them as the clicks a very large camera would make when taking pictures!
At Atulaya Healthcare MRI Scan Center we provide headphones with music to help block out the knocking sounds.
Please note, although an MRI scan procedure can be noisy, it is completely painless. The only thing you must do is HOLD STILL. When you take a picture with a camera, your subject must keep still or the picture will come out blurry. It’s the same with an MRI machine. If you move, the MRI scan might be out of focus – and you may have to repeat the whole MRI Procedure.
Also, if required, you may be injected with a solution called a contrast agent. MRI Contrast images allows the radiologist to see the specific part more clearly. These MRI contrast agents typically have few or no side effects, and the injection likely will just feel like a slight pinch. You may be asked to give your consent to this injection, at which time a more detailed explanation about the contrast agent will be given to you by the radiologist, or his/her MRI representative.
How long does the MRI Scan Procedure take?
The MRI scan procedure usually takes anywhere from 20 minutes to 1 hour. After that, a Radiologist reviews the images and decides whether any more images are required for the diagnosis or the procedure is complete.

Preparing for an MRI
For most of the MRI Tests, you can stick with your normal, everyday routine. So, no special preparation is needed. You can eat and drink your usual diet, work, or play sports (unless you have an injury!) – and take any prescribed medications. However, there may be some circumstances in which you’ll be given specific instructions to follow before the exam. These will be given to you by your doctor, or by his/her representative.
