Rapid Antigen Test

The Rapid Antigen Test is a diagnostic test that detects viral antigens in nasal or throat swab samples. This test provides quick results within 15-30 minutes and is less expensive than the RT PCR test. However, it has a lower sensitivity than the RT PCR test, meaning that false negative results are more common. Rapid antigen tests are generally used for screening purposes in community settings or for quick diagnosis in areas with limited resources.

Frequently Asked Questions

The rapid antigen test is a diagnostic test used to detect the presence of the COVID-19 virus in the body. It is a quick and easy test that can provide results in as little as 15-30 minutes.

During the test, a swab is taken from the nose or throat of the patient, and the sample is analyzed using a test kit. The test kit contains antibodies that can detect the presence of the COVID-19 virus in the sample.

The rapid antigen test is less accurate than the RT-PCR test, and there is a higher chance of false negatives. Therefore, it is recommended to confirm negative results with an RT-PCR test. This test is suitable for people who have symptoms of COVID-19 or have been in close contact with a confirmed COVID-19 patient and need quick results.
